The Two Fatalities Named in the Providence Campus Shooting as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s mass shooting at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our community”.

The assailant opened fire inside a room in the building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a police source reported to the news agency.

Officers that entered the lodging recovered two firearms and magazines when the individual was arrested, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private academy in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Cook was honored at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only during her upbringing... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”
