Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 because of a health issue that has affected her for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks in her opening round versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has been a concern at times this year.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
