Dean Henderson Had little to do to perform before the break but then forced to intervene from Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. His sliding tackle on an Albanian attacker highlighted excellent reading of the game. 6/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning for his country. Slightly loose in possession but his dangerous corners posed a danger. A useful pace-controller available to the manager to utilize versus teams who drop deep. Booked for a rash tackle. 6

The midfielder Deliveries from dead balls and set-plays were dangerous. Had freedom to move in left midfield only to be offside upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a well-earned break around the 60-minute point. Six

The star midfielder Played in an advanced spot down the right and did plenty of dirty work. Demonstrated moments of class and mishit a shot over. Withdrawn late on by a teammate, his competition, after being booked. Seven

The winger Had England’s best chance before halftime, his effort excellently kept out by the opposing goalkeeper. As a teammate hanging back, it fell to him to provide width down the right side although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

The captain The difference-maker with his 77th and 78th strikes for his country. His first a typical poacher’s finish and his next a classy headed goal after peeling away off his defender. Aged 32, his form is unwavering with the national team have every chance in future competitions when he's in the team. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to get into the game from the left. Had a presentable chance when set up by Bellingham but the keeper kept it out. Rashford produced a bigger effect in his place. 5
