Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden World Series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I'd choose in that spot besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of the series," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
